Our Biology Tutors

Joel Smith-Prance
I am a graduate of the University of South Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, and am currently studying for my Masters in Molecular Biology. I have experience in scientific labs, manufacturing labs, and medical offices. I am now working towards my goal of becoming a clinical neuropsychologist where I will do my best to improve the quality of life of everybody I meet. Destigmatizing and helping those who suffer from mental health issues and addiction has long been a passion of mine. This has mostly come from my time volunteering at various mental health facilities, homeless shelters, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. Reading with, tutoring, and just spending time with residents talking is how most of my time is spent at these facilities. I hope to make an impact on students I tutor while also learning everything I can from them. The physical and natural sciences have been my main focus but I maintain a strong interest in learning and teaching history, English (to non-native speakers), psychology, geography, and math.

The benefits of biology tutoring

How can biology tutoring improve grades and self-confidence?

Many biology students struggle to keep up with what can be a heavy workload, and teachers don’t always have the time to answer all their questions or go into in-depth explanations. This can lead to students feeling overwhelmed and falling behind in their work, especially at a higher level.

GoStudent biology tutors offer one-to-one lessons that can address any problem areas as well as teach effective learning strategies. This leads to improved understanding and increased confidence.

Book a free trial with GoStudent today and we will set your child up with a biology tutor who can assess which areas your child needs help with and design an individual learning plan precisely tailored to their needs.

The advantages of studying biology

Biology offers a wide range of exciting job opportunities.

Academic careers include working as a research assistant, doctor or professor, and careers in industry and business include medicine, pharmacy or biotechnology. Animal lovers would no doubt find working in a nature reserve, zoo or wildlife park appealing.

Other potential jobs include:

  • Laboratory research

  • Public relations in nature conservation

  • Journalism in a specific field

  • Environmental professions

  • Agribusiness

  • The food industry

  • Animal research

Keep in mind that biology is a popular subject and competition can be fierce, so specialising in a chosen area can give your child an advantage.
