I took my GCSE in 2017 and my A Levels in 2019, leaving school with 10 (A*-A) GCSEs and 4 (A*-A) A Levels, alongside an EPQ (A*) and AS Level in General Studies (A). Currently I am studying History and Politics at University College London, and am on track for a first class honours. I am incredibly passionate about learning, especially in a way which suits the individual - whether it's through flash-cards, model answers, blurting, exam practice or one of many other revision techniques!
About me
Hello! I'm Isobel, an undergraduate student studying History and Politics at University College London. During my time at school I had many inspiring teachers, who made lessons accessible and understandable. As a tutor my expirience during my school years continues to remind me how important it is to tailor my lessons to your child's needs. I began tutoring voluntarily in my first year of sixth-form and have now been tutoring students aged 5 to 18 for the past three years. I began tutoring as a paid job in September 2019 when I started studying at University, offering lessons in English Literature & Language, History and Politics for students aged 5 to 18, and Maths lessons for students aged 5 to 12. From my three years of expirience I have developed a broad understanding of the curriculum from Key-Stage One to Five, and an in-depth understanding of the requirements set by Edexcel, AQA and OCR for GCSE and A-Level exams. Every student is different, meaning every lesson is different. Before we begin lessons I'll talk to you about the subject, to find out which parts you enjoy and which parts you're struggling with. From this I'll create a tailored lesson plan which meets your educational needs. For instance, if we're covering exam technique for English GCSE or A-Level and you struggle with embedding quotes in sentences and evaluating and analysing them I'll provide an example answer, and then a work-sheet which sets out clear, simple steps to get to that point. If desired, I'll then set a short 30 minute homework which encapsulates what we covered that lesson and encourages you to retain that knowledge. While I love to teach, a student no longer needing my help is my favourite sign of success. My end goal is to help you improve and to make sure you love learning.
